ROLE OVERVIEW
The Media Solutions Engineer (MSE) is a critical hybrid role that operates at the intersection of media strategy, business acumen, and technical development. This position is responsible for designing, building, and deploying custom, robust technical solutions that directly enhance client media performance and secure long-term agency partnership ("stickiness"). The MSE transforms complex media challenges into scalable, code-based automations and integrations.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 💼
Innovation-led Strategy: Lead the development of technical solutions that combine deep SEM expertise with programming to solve complex channel challenges and drive performance innovation.
Advanced Tooling & Automation: Build and maintain high-impact tools that automate repetitive workflows and enable sophisticated search strategies at scale.
Data Architecture & Integration: Architect and implement robust integrations between core platforms (Google Ads) and client data environments (BigQuery) to enable advanced functionality.
Rapid Prototyping: Transition quickly from concept to code, developing working prototypes, such as a return-rate prediction model or inventory bidding strategies to address immediate client needs and test new SEM hypotheses.
Technical Auditing & Performance: Conduct deep-dive audits of SEM account structures and data flows to identify technical inefficiencies, proposing scalable, code-based solutions that enhance delivery and account health.
Strategic Workshops: Facilitate action-oriented consulting sessions with clients and internal teams to translate high-level search goals into tangible technical roadmaps and automated workflows.
Technical Ownership & Reliability: Take full responsibility for the stability and performance of critical operational components, including feed management and custom scripts, ensuring they provide "technical insurance" for the client's media spend.
Knowledge Scaling & Mentorship: Mentor specialists on technical SEM tactics and document best practices to build a repository of reusable solutions and foster a culture of continuous technical learning.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ✔️
Experience: 4+ years of experience in the digital marketing ecosystem.
SEM Technical Expertise: Comprehensive hands-on experience with SEM and feed management tools.
Scripting & Automation: Ability to write and debug code (Python, JavaScript/Node.js, SQL) specifically for marketing automation and data manipulation.
Platform Stack: Strong working knowledge of Google Ads Scripts, Google Cloud services (BigQuery, Cloud Run), and API integrations for marketing platforms.
Analytical Mindset: Expertise in using GA4 and BigQuery to analyse large datasets and turn those insights into automated optimisation logic.
Product Mindset: Ability to build solutions following internal standards, ensuring tools can be productized or integrated into internal platforms like Alvie.
Strategic Communication: Excellent skills in presenting technical solutions to C-level stakeholders, turning complex data narratives into clear business initiatives.
Self-Leadership: Highly self-driven, proactive, and able to manage complex technical projects independently.
Emerging Tech Curiosity: A forward-leaning mindset regarding AI/Machine Learning applications within performance marketing.
